Itinerary
Eat Your Way Off the Boat
Argentinian empanadas, a century-old sourdough starter, house-roasted coffee and a jazz cellar — all within about ten minutes' walk of the dock.
- 9:30 AM
Come Thursday to Sunday if you can
Kingston's kitchens keep small, individual weeks. Argensol only opens Thursday through Sunday, Cellar Cat is Thursday through Sunday, Borrowed Kitchen is closed Sunday and Monday, and Over the Moon is closed Tuesdays. A Friday or Saturday gets you the whole list; a Tuesday gets you about half of it.

Over the Moon Coffee Roasters
They roast their own, two minutes from the ferry lanes, and have been at it in Kingston since 2020. Sandwiches, burritos and quiche made in house if you want to start properly rather than politely. Closed Tuesdays.

Empanadas at Argensol Kitchen
Argentinian cooking on Washington Boulevard, just off the main strip and easy to walk past. Thursday 11 to 5, Friday 11 to 6, Saturday 10 to 6, Sunday 10 to 4 — closed the rest of the week, so this is the stop that sets your day.

Sourdough Willy's, or poke, or the vegan option
Sourdough Willy's raises its pizza on a century-old starter and opens daily at noon — the crust is genuinely the point. If you'd rather not eat pizza standing up, Da Poke Shop is a block off the strip (closed Mondays) and The Saucy Sailor does chef-driven takeout with real vegan and gluten-free cooking.

Walk up the hill to Kingston Center
Ten to twelve minutes uphill on Highway 104, and it is a real hill. At the top: Grocery Outlet if you're provisioning a rental or a boat, and two bookshops a few doors apart — Saltwater Bookshop for new titles, Kingston Bookery for second-hand.

Borrowed Kitchen Bakery, while there's still something left
In the Kingston Center strip. Tuesday to Friday 8 to 5, Saturday 8 to 3, closed Sunday and Monday — and the pastries can sell out well before closing, so this is a go-early-or-shrug stop rather than a guarantee.
Map ↗ - 3:15 PM
Downhill to a glass of something
Cellar Cat is the 21-and-over room in the middle of the block and the one that is actually open at this hour — Thursday and Sunday 3 to 8, Friday and Saturday 3 to 10, with live jazz on some nights. The Lounge at d'Vine Bistro pours by the glass Wednesday to Saturday but not until 4 PM, so it is the stop after this one, not this one. Friends and Neighbors Brewing is the beer answer, five minutes further up.

One more, or the boat
The Kingston Ale House opens at 11 daily and does pub plates and seafood if you want to make it a dinner rather than a crawl. Otherwise the terminal is two minutes away and your ride home was paid for in Edmonds.
